Pipework and structural openings inside the Tyne Bridge North Tower

The Challenge

Tyne Rope Access needed to carry out cleaning and bird-proofing works within the North Tower of the Tyne Bridge. Existing pipework and the internal structure created awkward areas that needed to be reached to complete the work.

The Solution

Using rope access, the team reached the required working positions and carried out jet washing within the tower. Bird-control netting was then installed around the relevant pipework and openings to create a physical barrier restricting bird access.

The Result

The required areas were cleaned and bird-control netting was installed around the relevant parts of the internal structure, completing both elements of the maintenance work.
