High-Level Window Frame Restoration by Rope Access
High-Level External Windows
Newcastle
Preparation and a four-coat finish
The high-level external window frames needed preparation and repainting. The work centred on restoring the frames with a four-coat protective system, followed by a window clean to complete the job.
All frames were sanded and prepared before the coatings were applied in sequence:
- A first coat of Zinsser.
- Dulux Weathershield primer.
- Two coats of Dulux Weathershield gloss.
Access with limited anchor points
The access options were rope access or a very large scaffold installation. Conventional anchor points were limited, so establishing a suitable access arrangement was an important part of planning the work.
The team used a portable deadweight anchor system to establish the rope-access system. This provided access to the window frames without the scale and disruption of a large scaffold installation.
Restoration followed by a final clean
Once the coating work was complete, the team finished with a window clean, leaving the windows and frames presentable after the restoration work.
The project brought together access planning, surface preparation, a four-coat finish and final cleaning. The frames were restored and protected without requiring a full scaffold installation, despite the limited conventional anchor points.
