Rope Access Banner Installation - Lancaster
The Sails Works student accommodation
Lancaster
The Challenge
A long-standing client asked Tyne Rope Access to install a large printed signage panel high on the external elevation of The Sails Works student accommodation in Lancaster. The banner was intended as permanent, longer-term signage.
Access was the main challenge. Another building immediately below and in front of the working elevation made a MEWP impractical. Scaffolding could have provided access, but its cost and setup would have been disproportionate to this relatively contained installation.
The client needed the signage installed efficiently, without turning a straightforward job into a much larger access operation.
The Solution
TRA planned the installation around rope access. This allowed the technicians to reach the required position directly from above and install and secure the large printed signage.
For this site, ropes provided access without a MEWP or temporary scaffold structure. The arrangement kept the access proportionate to the work and delivered the speed and cost efficiency that led the client to choose TRA.
The Result
The permanent printed signage was successfully installed high on the building elevation. The installation itself was relatively straightforward; its position made conventional access awkward or unnecessarily expensive for this job.
The project was another completed job for a long-standing client who has used TRA for smaller, occasional pieces of work over time and returned when another difficult-access requirement arose.
