Emergency Ballast Tank Repairs

The client had originally planned for a full scaffold solution to reach the ballast tanks for coating repair — but with a limited time window before the vessel's next scheduled sailing, a traditional access build simply didn't have time to go up and come down again before departure.

The rope access team mobilised at short notice, rigging inside the confined space of the ballast tanks themselves and working under full confined space and rescue cover throughout. Surface preparation and protective coating were carried out directly from rope — one of the more unusual call-outs the team has taken on.

The repairs were completed ahead of schedule and within budget, with the vessel back in service on time — a clear example of rope access stepping in where traditional access methods simply don't have the time to deliver.
