19mm Sparrow Netting – Industrial Food Storage Area
Industrial Unit / Food Storage Mezzanine
Gateshead
We were brought in to provide a bird-proofing solution around a newly installed mezzanine within a large industrial unit, ahead of the area being used for food storage.
With birds able to access the wider building, the new storage area needed to be effectively separated and protected. The specification called for a solution capable of excluding smaller bird species, including sparrows, so a 19mm aperture bird netting system was installed around the mezzanine.
Our team worked the netting around the existing steelwork, services and building structure, carefully closing potential access points to create a continuous physical barrier between the bird-accessible areas of the building and the food storage space.
The work was completed within an active industrial environment, requiring the installation to be coordinated around the surrounding structure and ongoing site activity while maintaining a neat, unobtrusive finish.
The result
The completed installation provides a discreet but highly effective barrier, preventing birds from entering the protected area and helping reduce the risk of contamination from fouling, feathers and nesting material.
The project demonstrates how bird netting can be adapted to complex internal spaces rather than simply installed across open elevations. By selecting the appropriate mesh size and forming the system around the existing structure, we were able to provide a solution specifically suited to the environment and the level of protection required.
