Gull Netting for Student Halls
Student Accommodation

A student accommodation block was suffering from heavy seasonal gull activity, with nesting material repeatedly blocking rainwater outlets during nesting season. The resulting water backup was causing real damage and had put a number of rooms out of use — costly and disruptive for a building that needed to stay fully occupied.
The team carried out a full roof clean to clear existing nesting debris, then installed 75mm gull netting across the roof — the wider gauge suited specifically to gulls rather than smaller birds. The netting was raised on posts to 2m, keeping it clear of the roof surface for easy access during any future maintenance.
Rainwater outlets stayed clear, the affected rooms came back into use, and the raised netting means future roof maintenance can now happen without disturbing or damaging the bird control system itself.
