Dual-Purpose Aviary Netting

An aviary enclosure at a wildlife park needed netting that solved two problems at once — keeping resident birds safely contained, while also preventing wild birds from getting in and potentially spreading avian flu into the collection. Standard deterrent netting wasn't built for either job, let alone both.

The team installed 19mm netting across the full enclosure — a small enough gauge to stop even small wild birds passing through, while giving the resident birds a secure, fully enclosed environment. Framing and edges were finished to sit into the treeline rather than dominate the space.

A fully enclosed aviary that protects the collection on both fronts — no birds escaping, and the site's wild-bird disease risk closed off, without the enclosure looking or feeling like a cage.
